Learn at Your Own Pace

Whether you plan to study full time or part time, the 39-credit hour M.A.T. in Elementary Education offers flexibility to fit your schedule!

  • Flexible Start: Begin part time as a working professional, in summer, spring or fall, and complete the program in as little as 24 months. Complete your first 12 credit hours as a post-baccalaureate student then join a cohort and take 6+ credit hours per semester.
  • Full Time, Summer Start: Enroll full-time for a summer start, and finish the program in as little as 14 months by taking 9+ credit hours per semester.
  • How to Apply

    All applicants must use our online system to create an account and submit their application. Applications open approximately one year in advance and are valid only for the specific term and program for which they are submitted. If you need to change your admission term or major/concentration after applying, you’ll need to submit a new application along with the required fee. To cancel an open application, please contact us directly.

    To get started, log in or create an application account at . Then, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the "Start New Application" link at the bottom of the page.
    2. Choose the "Graduate Admissions Application" option.
    3. Select one of the following application types:

    4. Click "Open Application" to proceed.
    5. Upload a copy of your transcripts.
    6. Submit the non-refundable application fee of $30 (USD).

    Please note that incomplete applications with outstanding requirements, or those postmarked after the deadline, may be canceled. Once canceled, the decision cannot be reversed, but applicants are welcome to apply for the next application cycle. Application fees are non-refundable and cannot be waived. Fees for undergraduate applications cannot be applied to graduate applications, and vice versa. The application fee must be submitted prior to the review of your application.

  • University Requirements

    All applicants must provide transcripts from U.S. institutions accredited by an accepted institutional accreditor, or the equivalent from a non-U.S. institution, that awarded the bachelor’s degree and master’s degree (if applicable). Transcripts from all institutions where post-baccalaureate or graduate credits were earned must also be submitted.

    For International Transcripts:

    International transcripts require a course-by-course evaluation by an approved third-party credential evaluation agency unless an alternative procedure is approved by the graduate school. To be accepted, evaluations must:

    • Be translated into English.
    • Show U.S. equivalency.
    • Be evaluated course-by-course.
    • Include the overall academic GPA.
    • Be from an approved, accredited third-party evaluation service.

Funding Opportunities

Jacksonville Teacher Residency

There may be a stipend available while pursuing the MAT. If you're interested in additional funding and can commit to teaching in Duval county for three years after graduation, please visit our JTR website for more details. 

Para-to-Teacher

The Para-to-Teacher Tuition Support Program offers financial assistance to paraprofessionals currently working in Florida’s public schools, helping them earn a Master of Arts in Teaching (ESE). In return, participants commit to teaching students with disabilities in a Florida public school upon completion of the program.
