Program Admission Requirements

Bachelor of Science in ASL/English Interpreting

Prospective students are admitted each Fall. To be considered for admission, applicants to the B.S. ASL/English Interpreting program must fulfill these requirements:

  1. Complete 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 Application Process

Transfer students must meet university admission requirements and apply to 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 by March 31 for fall admission (current 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 students do not need to re-apply to 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 and should contact Erica Hughes, Academic Advisor, in OASIS).

  2. Satisfy GPA and Interpreting Coursework Requirements
    • GPA of 2.75 or higher (preferred 3.0+)
    • 'B' or better in ASL I, ASL II, Introduction to Interpreting, and ENC 1101 (or 'B' or better in subsequent courses). Students with an AA will automatically transfer 'C' grades for these courses and are not required to repeat them. However, if applicants are admitted based on GPA and Limited Access Screening scores, students may be required to take a subsequent course upon admission.

  3. Meet Degree Requirements
    • Complete an associate-level degree in ASL/English interpreting (AA/AAS/AS), or
    • Successfully complete, at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023, the Prerequisite and Core Requirement coursework in the Course Catalog (courses through Term 4 on the Osprey Map) to apply; program admission is contingent upon earning a 'C' or better in the Summer 2 interpreting course (INT 2204 Interpreting in Community Settings), or
    • Complete an associate-level degree in another field AND hold one of these national certificates: CDI, CSC, CI and CT, NIC, NAD IV-V, COI (Canada).

  4. Pass the Program Admissions Screening

Our ASL/English Interpreting program is a specialized admissions program which means there are additional requirements that must be met in order to be admitted. Following the March 31 application deadline, admissions screenings will occur in April-May, with admission decisions occurring by May 15. The program has a maximum of 30 openings each fall. The Admissions Screening includes written exercises, ASL exercises, and a live video interview and these componente collectively evaluate three areas:

    • English Competency (comprehension, written, spoken) *
    • ASL Competency (comprehension, expressive, receptive)
    • Cognitive Processing (critical thinking, foundational information processing)

    * Deaf applicants are exempt from a spoken English evaluation.

General Education Core Requirements

It is not required that the applicant complete the general education core courses prior to attending 香港六合彩开奖结果2023; however, it is strongly recommended. By state law, transferring to 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 with an A.A. degree guarantees that no additional general education core courses will be needed. If the associate degree is not an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree, it is strongly recommended that students also complete the A.A., along with their A.S. or A.A.S degrees to avoid having to take additional general education core courses at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023. Students who do not transfer with an A.A. degree are subject to 香港六合彩开奖结果2023's core requirements, which may exceed or differ from the state minimum. Unless 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 has negotiated an official articulation agreement with the applicant's prior institution, transcripts will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine course equivalencies and program placement.

Questions about general education core requirements should be directed to the ASL/English Interpreting advisor in the Office of Academic Support and Information Services (OASIS), Erica Hughes.
