Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Education
The Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Education is designed to develop highly effective beginning teachers who are equipped to teach deaf or hard of hearing students and have mastered the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs), Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 Competencies, and Reading Competencies. Teacher candidates in the program are exposed to varying communication approaches (signed and/or spoken languages), settings, ages, hearing technologies, and issues of equity throughout their methods and field courses. Graduates of the program earn FL Teacher Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 with endorsements in Reading and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
The program is a cohort model with cohorts beginning each Fall semester. Practicum 1 (EHD 3941) and Practicum 3 (EHD 4270) will only be offered in Fall semesters while Practicum 2 (EHD 4940), Reading Practicum (EHD 4942), and Internship (EHD 4944) will only be offered in the Spring.

Admission to the Program
Applicants seeking admission to the College of Education and Human Services must have the following to be eligible:
- Satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours of credit from 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 or other regionally accredited institution(s). An Associate in Arts Degree (AA) from one of Florida's public community/state colleges or SUS schools satisfies General Education and Gordon Rule requirements.
- A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 or better in all college level course work.

Students not meeting the minimum admission requirements for the College of Education and Human Services should contact our Deaf Education Academic Advisor, Erica Hughes and the Program Faculty for alternative pathways to enter the Deaf Education program.
Field Coursework
- Students must complete a level 2 background check (including fingerprints) prior to the assignment of any student to a field/clinical experience in every district in which the field/clinical experiences will be completed. For more information, visit COEHS OASIS.
- Students not cleared by the school district will not be permitted to begin their field experience.
- The following field-based courses require a completion of a minimum of 75 field hours in addition to class time with the instructor:
- Applications for Internship are due by the 4th week of the term before you plan to intern. Late applications are not accepted.
- You must complete a CPR & First Aid course, take the FTCE Professional Exam and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 Exams, and the Sign Language Proficiency Exam prior to your internship semester.

Important Information
- All coursework must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
- The student must apply to graduate in the term they plan to graduate.
- Students must maintain a minimum GPA of a 2.5 or better for each semester they are enrolled in a teacher education program.
- A minimum of 120 semester hours (48 hours at the upper 3000/4000 level) is required for the bachelor's degree.
- Students must complete at least 25 percent of the required degree credit hours in residence at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023.
- Prior to registering for courses at another institution, permission must be obtained from the program director.
