Master of Science in Health Informatics

The Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) is a STEM degree that prepares students for careers as Clinical and Nursing Informaticists, Health Information Managers, Data Analysts, Chief Information Officers, and other health information roles in any organization that utilizes healthcare data in decision making. The program is offered primarily online (or in-person effective fall 2025) and is comprised of 11 courses (33 credits total). It is offered through the Department of Health Administration in the Brooks College of Health in partnership with the Coggin College of Business and the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction.

Program Opportunities


The Master of Science in Health Informatics is considered a STEM degree and provides foundational knowledge to prepare students for board certification in Clinical Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Information Management, and Data Analytics. Job prospects for students in health informatics are extremely promising given the explosive growth of technology and big data in healthcare.

Careers

Graduates of this STEM program will be able to pursue careers working with health data, electronic health records, clinical systems, health information standards including privacy, and medical coding applications.

  • In-Person Option (effective fall 2025)

    The Health Informatics (MS) program can also be taken in-person (effective fall 2025). Applicants interested in this option will need to select Health Informatics, MS on the admissions application.
