Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 hosts the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference

The 14th Annual Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) — the largest multidisciplinary research conference available to undergraduate students in the state of Florida, was held at the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 this past weekend.
 
The two-day conference featured 580 posters from 688 undergraduate students who registered from 33 Florida universities and colleges, along with 29 graduate programs.
 
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 hosted the conference in 2011 and again in 2019. This year, 84 students, mentored by 51 Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 faculty, presented 70 posters. Dr. Heather Truelove, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 professor of psychology, served as the keynote speaker on Friday evening.
 
Dr. Jenny Stuber, Ozzie and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 student at research conferenceDuring the conference, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023’s Dr. Jenny Stuber, professor of sociology, was named Florida Undergraduate Research Association (FURA) Mentor of the Year. Selected from faculty and nominated by research students, Dr. Stuber was nominated by her student Charlotte Arechederra. In her application submission, Arechederra cited Dr. Stuber’s nonstop willingness to help her students “grow and flourish in and out of the field of sociology.”
 
“I’m incredibly humbled by this award,” said Stuber. “It's gratifying to see that students genuinely appreciate the time and energy I devote to helping them advance their research interests. My greatest source of pride is the daily interactions I have with students, and this award validates the significance of those interactions and conversations and shows the value of how they can build up over time to transform a student's experience at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023.”
