MOCA Jacksonville celebrates 100th anniversary

MOCA A Walk on the Wild Side exhibitThe Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville, an institute of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023, is hosting an opening reception for its newest exhibit open to the public today, Thursday, Jan. 18, from 8 to 9 p.m.

MOCA is celebrating its 100th year anniversary as the oldest art museum in the region and the second contemporary art museum to be established in the United States.

The exhibit, “A Walk on the Wild Side,” presents a collection of art that offers an expansive view of late 30th-century American culture during a time when artists broke down the barriers between different art forms and collaborated in newfound and innovative ways. The works of sculpture, video and installations are by seminal figures including Tina Girouard, Philip Glass, Joan Jonas, Richard “Dickie” Landry, Gordon Matta-Clark, Andy Warhol, Robert Wilson and more.

This celebration year is an opportunity for MOCA to give back to the community that has been its home for a century by presenting groundbreaking exhibitions and programs that will engage the community and elevate Jacksonville as a regional destination for arts and culture.
