Counseling Center director receives JASMYN鈥檚 2021 Diamond Award

Headshot of Dr. Richmond WynnDr. Richmond Wynn, 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 Counseling Center director and Clinical Mental Health Counseling associate professor, will receive the Diamond Award for exemplary service to the LGBTQ youth community at JASMYN’s 15th Annual Coming Out Day Breakfast today. This is one of the highest honors bestowed by the organization.

“I am thrilled and grateful to receive this honor,” said Wynn. “Advocating for LGBTQ students at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 and in our community is my greatest passion.”

Wynn is a strong advocate and supporter of local LGBTQ youth and has volunteered with JASMYN for 26 years. He began as a support group facilitator in the small Willowbranch Library, the only resource provided by JASMYN at the time. He helped in the effort to make it a non-profit organization and then joined the board of directors serving in several positions. He has participated in many initiatives and events over the years and served on the JASMYN Community Trustee Council for the last four years, which is made up of long-time stewards and advocates of the organization. Wynn also served as the advisor to the 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 PRIDE Club from 2005 to 2011 and was interim coordinator of the 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 LGBT Resource Center from 2008 to 2009.

Wynn is a licensed mental health counselor, certified addictions professional, and a nationally certified counselor. He embraces culture-centered approaches to teaching, research, and counseling. His research focuses on intersectionality of identity and traumatic stress with an emphasis on marginalized social identity groups, and in the ways in which culturally diverse LGBTQ people negotiate their identities and manage their health.

Wynn holds a doctorate in counselor education and supervision specializing in mental health counseling from the University of Florida.
