Pre-Med Living-Learning Community

The Pre-Med Living-Learning Community is designed for first-year students interested in exploring a broad range of careers paths within the practice of medicine.  This LLC emphasizes the collaborative, interdisciplinary nature of the modern medical field, where professionals work together to deliver patient-centered care across various settings, including hospitals, private practices, assisted living facilities, and hospice. This LLC is ideal for students exploring careers such as a physician, physician assistant (PA), dentist, veterinarian, pharmacist, optometrist, physical therapist, or occupational therapist.

The LLC supports 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 students in building a robust support network within the university and the broader medical community. Through interdisciplinary learning, networking opportunities, and tailored programming, students in the Pre-Med Living-Learning Community gain foundational insights into healthcare systems, the essential roles and teamwork in healthcare environments, and the academic preparation needed to thrive in a variety of medical and health professions. 


Eligibility & Requirements

  • Interest: Be interested in pursuing a career in a biomedically-related professional program.
  • Academic Major: Students should have an academic major in one of the following areas (including but not limited to): Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Kinesiology.
  • Housing Contract & Application: Complete the Housing Contract & LLC and Interest Housing Application.
  • Location: Live in Osprey Crossings with the Pre-Med LLC.
  • Participation: Attend and support Living-Learning Community events and programs. 
  • Note: The Pre-Med LLC is not appropriate for students looking to pursue careers in the Allied Health field (i.e. nursing, physical therapy, etc.).

Course Information

Enroll in BSC 2932 Introduction to Medical Professions Seminar, an interdisciplinary course designed to introduce students to diverse career pathways in healthcare. This course includes insights into the academic rigor and skills required for various medical roles, preparing students for the demands of their chosen fields.

As a member of the Pre-Med LLC you will:

  • Develop academic and professional skills essential for success in diverse healthcare fields.
  • Build networking skills through interactions with students, faculty, and professionals from various health-related disciplines.
  • Establish a strong support network to aid in your transition to 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 and foster a sense of community within the healthcare field. 
  • Enhance your academic success and social wellness through targeted resources, workshops, and peer connections.
  • Gain insights into the academic rigor and dedication required across healthcare careers, from medicine and nursing to allied health and healthcare management.
  • Receive guidance on preparing for graduate and professional school entrance exams tailored to your healthcare career path.
  • Learn strategies to create competitive applications for professional programs across the medical and health professions, supported by mentors and advisors from the 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 community.

  • Internship and Volunteer Guidance: Assistance in exploring and preparing for the internships and volunteer experiences needed in anticipation of pursuing an advanced medical degree. Pre-Med LLC has previously hosted field trips to connect with organizations such as Mayo Clinic, Shands Hospitals, and St. Vincent’s Hospitals, in addition to guest lectures with medical students and professionals.
  • Community-Building and Social Events: Social gatherings and events to build camaraderie, foster peer support, and enhance wellness, making the LLC a fun and supportive community for aspiring healthcare professionals.
